Statewide Poll Puts Talent In Lead In Senate Race

A Survey USA poll conducted for a St. Louis television station August 4th and 5th shows Republican Senate Candidate Jim Talent with a 6 percentage point lead, statewide, over incumbent Democrat Senator Jean Carnahan. Overall, the survey gives Talent the support of 53 percent of those polled, compared to 47 percent support for Carnahan. Among men, Talent holds a 57 percent to 42 percent lead while Carnahan has the support of 49 percent of women compared to Talent’s 49 percent. Broken down regionally, Talent and Carnahan are running neck and neck in the St. Louis area, the Kansas City region, and in Mid Missouri. Talent has a huge lead of the decided vote in the Ozarks.
