The Royals won their second straight game with a 6-2 win over the Yankees. Kansas City jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Raul Mondesi hit a two run homer off rookie Runelvys Hernandez in the sixth inning. Hernandez was pulled in the sixth, but got the win, improving to 2-1 on the season. He allowed just four hits. Ryan Bukvich, Jeremy Affeldt, and Jason Grimsley each pitched an inning of relief. None of them allowed a hit. Affeldt allowed one walk. Offensively, Raul Ibanez was 4-5 with two RBI’s and two runs. Michael Tucker went 3-4, driving in two runs.
