It’s primary Election Day throughout the state with Missourians casting ballots on everything from tax increase proposals to candidates for the U.S. Senate and House, as well as candidates for the State Senate and House. Secretary of State Matt Blunt is Missouri’s top election official. He says people can vote on the ballot issues without taking part in the party primary voting for candidates. One of those statewide issues – a controversial one – is the transportation measure. If approved, a half-cent would be added to the sales tax and four cents would be added to the cost of a gallon of gasoline.
