Darrell Porter has died. He was found next to his car in a suburban Kansas City Park. The former catcher was special to Missourians all over the state. Porter was a two time All-ASar for the Royals and a member of their 1980 World Series Team. He made two other trips to the Fall Classic with the Redbirds in 1982 and 1985. In ’82 he was the World Series MVP. But Porter’s roots in Missouri were deeper than the teams he played for: he was also a Joplin native. Darrell Porter was 50 years old.
