Democrats and Republicans will make it an official race tomorrow, but the US Senate race in Missouri this year pits a first-time politician against one who lost his last major race. Senator Jean Carnahan, a Democrat, says she’s ready for the campaign to keep the seat to which she was appointed. Republican Jim Talent left the US House after 16 years to run unsuccessfully for Governor two years ago and says mistakes in that race will help him in this one. It appears the two will debate. Talent has been calling for them for some time. Carnahan says she has already accepted one.
