Valley Park has planned for years to demolish the old glass factory it owns to make way for a levee along the Meramec River. Now, those plans have taken on new urgency in wake of the murder of 6-year-old Casey Williamson. Searchers found Williamson’s body partially buried at the abandoned factory after she was reported missing hours earlier. Transient Johnny Johnson has been charged with her murder. City officials have run into problems. There are several federal regulations they must satisfy to destroy the building and clear the land for the levee, expected to cost $14-Million.
