A small town in southwest Missouri is debating whether a big Wal Mart is a good thing. The Ozark Board of Aldermen is scheduled to discuss the possibility of a Wal-Mart Supercenter coming to the community. Though no plans for the development have been submitted to City Hall, the issue has become a lightning rod for discussions about whether Wal Mart drives out small businesses and what long-term effect that would have on Ozark. Both the Director of the Hometown Merchants Association of Springfield and theDirector of the Missouri Grocers Association say they just don’t want to see the city give the discount chain tax incentives to locate there.
