Kansas City’s discount airline, Vanguard, is out of business. Vanguard has filed for bankruptcy and has fired all but a few dozen of its 1,100 Kansas City area employees. Company CEO Scott Dickson calls it a sad day for Kansas City. Vanguard had 35 flights a day from Kansas City. It served 17 other cities. In its most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Vanguard listed $133-Million in losses. The company reported only $3-Million dollars on-hand at the end of March.
