Wedding bells could be ringing for a couple of Missouri Department of Transportation employees. But, the Department’s Director believes it could be ringing the blues. Henry Hungerbeeler says he’s happy for the upcomingnuptials between the Department’s Inspector General Sharon Schulte and Chief Operating Officer Mike Golden. But he’s worried Schulte, in her watchdog role, would not be able to look into certain matters that might involve her husband-to-be. Hungerbeeler says one or both could recuse themselves from a case, but he’s not sure that is the best solution either. He expects one of the two will probably end up leaving MoDOT. In fact, Hungerbeeler says he has aresignation letter in-hand dated sometime before the wedding day. He would not say whose letter it is. Hungerbeeler says he’d be disappointed if either Schulte or Golden would have to leave. Schulte and Golden were unavailable for comment.
