Rolen Traded To Cards

July 30, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Scott Rolen will wear the same color’s just in a different town. The All-Star and Gold-Glove third baseman was traded to the Cardinals along with Triple-A reliever Doug Nickel. The Redbirds send utility-man Placido Polanco, right-handed pitcher Mike Timlin and lefty Bud Smith to Philly. Rolen is hitting .259 with 17 homers and 66 RBI’s. He’s expected to play in Florida tonight as the Cardinals face the Marlins. The Cardinals hope Rolen will agree to a long-term deal. He’ll be a free agent at the end of the season.
