Pro Tourney Starts Today in Springfield

For the 13th year Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield has hosted the annual professional golf tournament formerly known as the Ozarks Open. It’s been on the PGA’s minor league tour for each of the 13 years of the tour’s existence. It gets underway today. The tourney has a $475,000 purse. Omar Uresti, Casey Martin and Chip Beck are all participating. Missourians who are playing include Kory Bowman of Springfield, James Farrell of Kansas City, Michael Letzig of Richmond and Scott Siebert of Ballwin. Steve Haskins won the tournament by default in 2001. The event was called after 36 holes due to rain. Long time.
