The Royals were held to three hits in a 3-0 shutout to the Tigers on Wednesday. Starter Paul Byrd allowed all three runs in eight innings of work, dropping to 13-7. The Royals have only scored once in the last two games, dropping both decisions to Detroit. They’ll try to avoid the sweep this afternoon as they wrap up the three-game set….The Royals talked with Paul Byrd’s agent yesterday about the possibility of a new contract. The team said they’re not interested in discussing any deals until the labor problems are settled. Byrd has indicated that he’ll play for less than his market value to stay in Kansas City.
