A State Supreme Court ruling directs a circuit judge inJefferson City to allow Attorney General Jay Nixon to dismiss a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood. The lawsuit sought to keep Planned Parenthood from receiving statefamily planning money. The Supreme Court had earlier found that the arrangement made between the legislature and the attorney general put the Attorney General into a conflict of interest. When Nixon attempted to dismiss the case, Circuit Judge Byron Kinder refused to allow it. The Supreme Court has ordered Kinder to accept it. The issue might not go away. The State Supreme Court does leave openthe door for a taxpayer to raise the issue in a separate action. The suit, which has been going on for three years, has kept state family planning money from going to Planned Parenthood.
