A group of scantilly-clad women working for PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – has made a stop in Jefferson City to promote vegetarianism. PETA’s “Lettuce Ladies” use sexuality to promote the vegetarian lifestyle. And, “Lettuce Lady” Brandi Valladolid sees nothing wrong with that. She says bodies are often used to convey a message of sexuality. This campaign, she says, uses what is available to get across a message she claims is more important – one aimed at encouraging people to give up meat and dairy products and to defend animal rights. The “Lettuce Ladies” are so named because they wear little clothing other than strategically placed polyester bikinis that look like lettuce leaves.
