Another indication of St. Louis Congressman Richard Gephardt’s presidential aspirations come in Miami Beach, Florida. Gephardt spoke to a national Hispanic rights group Monday night, stating he plans to introduce a bill within the next few weeks to grant legal status to millionsof undocumented immigrants. The Gephardt plan would give legal status to immigrants who have lived in the United States for five years and worked in the country for two. The Hispanic vote is seen as a key to both the presidential race in two years and the Congressional races this year. Gephardt has been working hard to grab the majority in the US House back for Democrats and is said to be eyeing a run for the White House in 2004.
