Chuck Finley lasted six innings and allowed four runs in his first start as a Cardinal. It was good enough for an 8-4 win over the Pirates yesterday. Finley got help from his teammates. Albert Pujols was 3-5, with four RBI’s to lead the offfensive charge. Pujols hit a three-run homer in the third inning. The Cards broke a 4-4 tie with a three run fifth inning. Steve Kline got the save working the final inning and a third. The Cardinals kept pace with second place Cincinnati, who trail St. Louis by three and a half games. The Cardinals are in San Francisco to face the Giants tonight.
