A July 7, 2003 court date has been set for the wrongful-death lawsuit of former Chiefs All-Pro Derrick Thomas. In late January of 2003, Thomas’ Chevrolet Suburban slipped on a patch of ice and crashed. He was partially paralyzed and died weeks later. The suit, filed by Thomas’ mother and the mothers of his children, claims that the design of the ATV was faulty and contributed to his death. The auto dealership that sold Thomas the car is also named in the suit.
