A federal grand jury meeting in St. Louis is expected to charge a Jefferson County man with dumping the body of his grandmother on the side of a Florida road in 1987 so he could collect her Social Security checks. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Mark Sheppard of Festus has confessed. Sheppard allegedly told investigators his mother cooked up the plan and when she died in 1990, he moved into the home of his dead grandmother, impersonating her on the phone to keep the money coming. Florida officials discovered the body of Nellie Hulth five years ago, but got no where in their investigation of her death.
