Birds Lose Late

July 18, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals 4-1 lead evaportaed last night, in a 5-4 loss to the Giants. San Francisco won the game with long balls. Jeff Kent, Reggie Sanders, and Benito Santiago all went deep in the comeback. Santiago’s 9th inning blast gave the Giants the 5-4 lead. Tino Martinez grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to end the game. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak. The good news for the Cardinals is that their three and a half game lead in the N.L. Central remained in tact, thanks to the Reds loss to the Pirates.
