An opportunity is coming soon to pay back taxes without suffering fines and penalties. The state is providing a tax amnesty period from August through October.Individual and business taxpayers who have gotten behind in their taxes can avoid normal penalties by paying up. The state hopes to reap a $20-Million windfall from the amnestyperiod, money needed to help ease a tight state budget.
