State Troopers Back Transportation Proposal

July 16, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri State Troopers Association has thrown its backing behind Proposition B, the proposed tax increase for transportation expenses that goes to voters on August 6th. President of the group Tim Tinnin believes the poor road conditions in Missouri have created a safety hazard. But, the Highway Patrol’s own numbers indicate the death rate onMissouri’s roads has actually dropped in the last 25 years. And the Patrol still lists inattention as the leading cause of accidents. Tinnin concedes inattention is the biggest factor, but the poor road conditions make it more difficult for a driver to use recovery maneuvers.
