Raul Ibanez tied a Royals record with seven RBI’s yesterday as Kansas City topped Anaheim 12-3. Ibanez hit a grand slam in the first inning to put the Royals on top 4-0. In the second, he hit a three-run shot to make it 9-0. Ibanez was playing first base for Mike Sweeney who was scratched from the lineup with a sore back. Raul Ibanez now has 12 home runs on the season as the Royals won their second game in a row. Miguel Asencio improved to 2-2 with a six-inning performance. Tonight they’ll face the Rangers in a double header….Rookie pitcher Jeremy Affeldt will see a specialist today in hopes of solving his fingernail mystery. The nail on his middle finger of his pitching hand continues to crack. The ailment’s left him out of action since early June.
