The campaign heats up. The State Republican Party has filed charges with the Federal Election Commission against Senator Jean Carnahan. Missouri GOP Executive Director John Hancock has unveiled a 27 page complaint. The Republicans focus on three non-profit organizations – Pro-Vote, Missouri; Missouri Citizens Education Fund; and the Service Employees International Union – claiming the groups worked with the Carnahan campaign, in violation of election laws. Democrats counter by going after the Talent for Senate campaign on election issues. Mike Kelley, the Executive Director of the Missouri Democrats, is particularly concerned with what he claims is illegal use of funds left over from the Talent for Governor campaign. He claims they were used to aid the Talent for Senate campaign.
