Pitcher Andy Benes will be called up from the minor leagues next week. Benes was rocked in a Class-A assigment allowing seven earned runs and walking six. He’ll be needed as Woody Williams goes back on the disabled list. He’s bothered by a strained muscle in his left side. Benes hasn’t faced a major league batters since April 15th. After that game, it was believed by many of his teammates and others that he was retiring. Benes will be called up next Tuesday. The Cardinals rotation will consist of Benes, Matt Morris, Bud Smith, who is winless and rookies Jason Simontacchi and Travis Smith.
