Mike Sweeney waited and waited. Finally in the 8th inning he was put into last night’s All-Star Game in Milwaukee. In his only at bat, he hit a fly ball to end the American League’s 9th inning. The game went another two innings before baseball commissioner Bud Selig called it a tie in the 11th. Both teams were out of players with the score knotted at seven apiece. It’s only the second time the Mid-Summer Classic has ever been called. In 1961, rain forced an early exit. It was Sweeney’s 3rd All-Star appearance.
