Today marks a deadline for people intending to vote in the August 6th elections. They must be registered by 5 o’clock this afternoon. Missourians go to the polls next month, casting votes for candidates and on two important ballot issues. Secretary of State Matt Blunt says manypeople will be eligible to vote for the first time. And, some who aren’t quite voting age can register, too. Anyone whil will have turned 18 by Election Day has the right to register. In addition, anyone who’s registered but has recently moved should contact a local election authority to transfer that registration. In addition to candidates there are two important measures on the ballot. Proposition A – one of the issues, asks for authority to impose a 9-1-1 fee on cell phones, while Proposition B – the transportation issue, would increase taxes to fund road projects.
