Adventurer Steve Fossett and members of his mission control team at Washington University in St. Louis are celebrating the successful completion of Fossett’s solo round-the-world flight in a balloon. Fossett landed inthe Australian Outback on the morning of July 4th – Australian time. It was late afternoon, July 3rd, Missouri time. Fossett’s balloon is now headed to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air And Space Museum in Washington, D.C. It will be displayed near Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis and John Glenn’s Friendship 7 spacecraft.
