The Doe Run Company’s lead smelter in Herculaneum is again pumping too much toxic pollution into the air. Company officials say after meeting federal air quality standards for the first time earlier this year, too muchtoxic pollution was pumped into the city’s air from April through June. Doe Run won’t face any penalties now. But the latest in a 22-year series of pollution reduction plans sets August 14th as the date by which Doe Run must meet Clean Air Act requirements.
