The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod has suspended one of its leading ministers for leading a ten-sentence prayer at Yankee Stadium in New York last September 23rd. The prayer was part of a service for survivors of theterrorist attacks. But the church says the Reverend David Benke broke church rules by taking part in a service in which non-Lutherans participated. The Missouri Synod is based in Kirkwood.
