The Royals were held to five hits last night by Jamie Moyers. The Mariners starter went the distance for the complete game shut out, beating Kansas City 7-0. Royals first baseman Mike Sweeney was 1-4, dropping his average to .360. Ichiro Suzuki was 3-4 for the Mariners raising his mark to .364, taking over the lead in the batting race. Tonight 10-game winner Paul Byrd gets the start for Kansas City….Sweeney was named the American League’s Player of the Week yesterday. Sweeney hit .476 last week with homers in 5 straight games. He’ll be the Royals lone representative in the All-Star Game a week from tonight.
