Robber In Cage Car Caper Convicted

One of the men charged with stealing a sports car belonging to actor Nicholas Cage, then driving it into the Lake of the Ozarks after a joy ride, has been convicted and is in a military prison. Robert Nicholas Clerkin is an Air Force enlisted man from Arnold. He’s been convicted on military charges. He’ll serve six months, be reduced in rank, and will forfeit about $6,600 in pay and allowances. Another man from Arnold also is charged. His preliminary hearing comes later. The two had beencharged with stealing the 1889 Porsche from a transport trailer in Arnold last December. The car was valued at about $100,000.
