The Redbirds topped the Padres 7-3 at Busch Stadium last night. Woody Williams went eight innings, striking out seven to improve to 6-3. Williams also hit his first homer of the season. Jim Edmonds, Miguel Cairo, and Albert Pujols bagged round-trippers as well. It was Edmonds 15th, Cairo’s 2nd, and Pujol’s 17th of the season. The Cards remain tied with the Reds atop the N.L. Central. The win snapped a two-game losing streak.
