The State Auditor believes the man who runs the state’s pharmacy program in the Department of Social Services has a conflict of interest. Claire McCaskill says George Oestreich needs to get rid of pharmacy interests he owns. McCaskill says Oestreich has done nothing wrong, there is only the appearance of wrongdoing. But, legal counsel for the Department of Social Services Harry Williams says there’s nothing wrong with Oestreich owning a pharmacy. Williams adds the Department, along with the State Ethics Commission, thoroughly checked out Oestreich’s ownership of pharmacy interests before he was hired last October and found nothing wrong.
