The WorldCom woes that have led to the laying off of 17-thousand of the company’s employees across the country have put more than 200 Missouri workers on the unemployment line. In all, 230 Missouri employees have been told to clean out their desks. Most of those employees – 190 of them – worked at WorldCom’s Weldon Spring plant in St. Charles County. The State Department of Economic Development points out free career-center services are available to Missouri’s laid-off WorldCom workers.
