Opponents of the transportation initiative on the August 6th ballot have formed a grassroots committee to fight the proposal. The initiative calls for a half-cent increase in the sales tax and a 4-cent-per-gallon hikein the gasoline tax to pay for highways and road improvements. The group, calling itself the No On “B” committee, believes higher taxes – especially sales taxes – will hurt poorer Missourians the most.
