A six run lead wasn’t enough for the Cardinals, as they lost to the Reds 12-8. St. Louis built a 6-0 lead in the first, but let it slip away. Up 8-6 in the 9th, closer Jason Isringhausen allowed 3 hits and was charged with 5 runs. Gene Stechschulte was charged with a run as well as Cincy got six runs across in the final frame. It ruined Matt Morris bid for his 11th win of the season. St. Louis dropped two of three to Cincinnati, moving both teams into a tie for first in the National League Central…

Cardinal outfielder JD Drew has just 10 hits in his last 52 at bats. Part of that can be blamed on a sore right knee. Drew will have some time to get his hobbled joint back into place. The team placed him on the 15-day disabled list. Mike Coolbuagh has been called up from Memphis to take his spot on the roster.
