State Economic Development Director Joe Driskill dismisses the findings of Washington think tank The Brookings Institution, which has released a study indicating biotechnology might not be as profitable as many have predicted. The state has invested heavily in biotechnology and has been a big booster in its economic potential for Missouri. Driskill says Missouri has a good base for biotechnology, because of the work of universities and research centers as well as agri-business corporations headquarters in Missouri.
