The parents of a man who died in a scuffle with St. Louis Police in 1999 have lost their civil rights lawsuit filed against the police department. And a federal judge who has dismissed their suit has ordered Thurman and Tommie Thompson to pay almost $11,000 in legal fees run up by the department to defend itself. The judge has ruled the officers acted properly in arresting the Thompsons’ son, who died of a head injury.
