Buck Honored, But Cardinals Lose

Jack Buck was memorialized at a pre-game ceremony at Busch Stadium Thursday. A number of speakers including, Stan Musial, Lou Brock, Mike Matheny, Tony La Russa, Mike Shannon and Dan Dierdorf recalled their best memories of the late broadcaster. Later that afternoon, the Cardinals fell to the Angels 3-2. Bud Smith got the loss, dropping to 0-5. He allowed two first inning runs. They remained two games ahead of the Reds in the N.L. Central, who lost to Seattle 3-2.
