Cards Win One For Jack

June 20, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals topped the Angels 6-2 last night in an evening that was about more than baseball. Before the game there was a half-hour tribute to Jack Buck who died Tuesday night at the age of 77. Buck will have a flag with the phrase “That’s a winner” flying in the outfield other flags that adorn Cardinal retired numbers. Placido Polanco, who called Buck a great friend, hit two homers. Albert Pujols belted his 15th of the year as Matt Morris won his 10th. The Birds also grabbed a two-game lead over the Reds.
