Key Injuries Should Be Healed For I-70

June 14, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals and Royals have been banged up this week as they get ready for the second installment of the 2002 I-70 Series. The Redbirds hope center fielder Jim Edmonds will be healed by Sunday. He’s been on the disabled list with a wrist injury. Closer Jason Isringhausen’s been given the OK play this weekend despite a strained flexor. Royals first baseman Mike Sweeney could play tonight, it will be a game time decision. He sprained his ankle on Tuesday and missed Wednesday’s game. Good news on Paul Byrd. His MRI earlier this week showed nothing more tahn inflamation on his right elbow. Starter’s for tonight’s game will be Matt Morris for St. Louis and Miguel Ascencio for the Royals at Busch Stadium.
