Slip On The Grass Costs Royals

June 6, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals fell to the White Sox 6-1 at Comiskey. In the fourth inning, the Sox led 2-1 when disaster struck for the Royals. Jeff Suppan slipped on wet grass while chasing a bunt, then catcher Brent Mayne tripped on Suppans leg, and Mark Johnson was safe at first, loading the bases. Kenny Lofton drove everyone home with a triple, giving Chicago a 5-1 lead. The Royals bats were silenced, managing just three hits….Reliever Jason Grimsley was put on the 15-day disabled list yesterday with a strained muscle in his back. Jeff Austin will take his spot on the roster
