Forty-three patients died in one ward of the Columbia Veterans Hospital in 1992 and now a man who was a nurse in that ward is charged with ten of those deaths. Ex-nurse Richard Williams has been a suspect all this time. But theprosecutor says technology has not been available until now to provide a strong enough link to justify charges. That technology has let investigators determine the ten patients were given a drug that paralyzed their breathing and caused their heart to stop shortly before their deaths.
