KC And Firefighters Agree To Truce

Kansas City and its firefighters are going to keep on talking. The sides in the labor dispute have agreed to submit their wage dispute to federal mediation. In so-doing, the sides agree to extend the existing labor agreement, which had been set to expire at midnight last night. It will stay in effect until June 30th. Thecity has offered 4-percent pay hikes to some firefighters and 2-percent bonuses to others. The union wants pay increases of 4-percent and 2-and-a-half percent.
