Springfield Aims To Stop Abuse Of Sports Officials

The Springfield City Council is looking at a proposed ordinance letting the City Prosecutor seek stronger penalties aginst people who abuse referees and umpires in youth sports. One councilman says he has seen several instances in which umpires have been punched. A public hearing will be held next month.
