"Found" Money From Washington Prevents Furloughs

The federal government is sending the state of Missouri $1.5-Million more than previously expected for Medicaid matching funds. State Budget Director Brian Long says these funds are money the state has contended for some time that the federal government owes Missouri. The announcement of the money comes just days before state workers were going to start furloughs to help balance this year’s budget. Now, those furloughs have been cancelled.
