AG Calls On Governor To Veto Payday Loan Bill

May 30, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Attorney General Jay Nixon is calling on Governor Bob Holden to veto the payday loan bill passed by the just-concluded session of the General Assembly. Nixon says what was intended to be a 75 percent annual rate of interest is actually an annual interest rate just under 2,000 percent – at 1,950 percent per annum. Nixon says the bill is what the payday loan industry wanted because it has little teeth to it.
