State Launches Online Database Of WWI Vets

May 29, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

An online database containing the names and service records of 145,000 Missourians who served their country during World War One is now available from the Missouri State Archives website. The current database contains the names of Missourians who enlisted in the Army and the Marines and includes: name, serial number, race, residence, place of enlistment, place and date of birth, rank, wounds or injuries, dats of overseas service and date of discharge. Originally created for the purpose of collecting historical and statistical information, these cards were maintained by the Adjutant General until their transfer to the Missouri State Archives.

A list of those who served in the Navy during World War One is being worked on and is expected to be available online within a few weeks.
