May 29, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

St. Louis managed only five hits against Houston on Tuesday night but they made them count in a 4-1 win. Albert Pujols and Eli Marrero both launched two-run homers in the top of the first to give the Birds a 4-0 lead. The Astros scored in the bottom of the first for the games final tally. But Houston had their chances. They stranded 13 runners and loaded the bases three times. Matt Morris lasted five innings and got the win, improving to 7-3. Mike Timlin held the victory going three innings in relief. Jason Isringhausen got his 15th save. The Cardinals remain a half game behind Cincinatti, who leads the N.L. Central.
