A case of blue flu has hit the Kansas City Fire Department, which is involved in labor negotiations with the firefighters union. About 100 firefighters did not go to work on Memorial Day. It’s believed they were protesting the way negotiatins are going. Their refusal to work will cost taxpayers an extra $60,000 to $100,000 because other firefighters were called in from their day off and will get double overtime for working the holiday.
